Home Education Events in Ontario

Events for homeschoolers in Ontario include field trips for the kids and conferences for the parents. Some are organized by the Ontario Federation of Teaching Parents, but we've also included information about events organized by other homeschooling groups and individual home educators, as well as other types of events and activities that are not specifically for homeschoolers but may be of interest to homelearners or teaching parents.

A great way to connect with other homeschoolers!

Field trips

You can get together with other homeschooling families for field trips and other outings for the kids. Join the Home School Ontario Trips list to find out what's happening in your area, sign up for a field trip, or announce one you've organized yourself.

Support groups Open House

October 13th, 2009 — Newmarket

Homeschoolers Open Forum

If you have been homeschooling for several years, are new, interested or have reluctant family members we invite you to join us for an informative, encouraging and positive approach to homeschooling. For the evening we will have three experienced homeschooling families share their experiences and answer questions. Combined, these families are able to offer over thirty years of insight from schooling their children from kindergarten through highschool.

Some of the commonly asked questions and concerns that will be covered in the evening: Socialization. How will my kids make friends? What makes a parent qualified to teach? How much does it cost? Don't the children feel segregated? Isn't it a lot of work? What about being in the real world? Why did you decide to homeschool? Can I pull my children from school? Isn't the education slanted coming from mom all the time? Are the children being sheltered? What if the parents need a break? How do you differentiate your role between a teacher and parent? What is unschooling? How do you pick a curriculum?

We will have refreshments, resources to look through, a slideshow, and lively discussion.
