Description: A loosely affiliated group meeting monthly in members' homes in Windsor or Essex County. Approximately 25 people in the group at this point in time (fall 2007), with parents of children from preschool age to early high school. Day-to-day support takes place on the Family Village messageboard which is open to people around the world who are interested in Natural and Attachment Parenting. A large component of Family Village is the homeschooling.
Activities: field trips, both as a group and in conjunction with other local support groups.
Membership Fees/Requirements: There are no membership fees; donations are accepted at the meetings to purchase books or materials for our lending library. Field trips are funded cooperatively on an as-we-go basis.

Description: Open to all, regardless of religion or educational style, who support openness, cooperation and respect, and are glad to put them into practice in the ways outlined in our members' agreements. C:HOICE was created as an alternative to network-style groups of independent organizers. We organize, instead, as a team, through collaboration, consultation, consensus decision-making, and respectful/caring resolution of disagreements.
Activities: Weekly Homeschoolers' Playgroup at the Children's Museum (or at the park during the good weather) - open to non-members, too. Pre-teen get-togethers every 2 or 3 weeks as arranged by the families involved. Group rates and field trips; sharing of resources, information and support.
Membership Fees: free.
Membership requirements: we're open to homeschoolers and prospective homeschoolers of all religions (and no religion) and all educational styles (from school-at-home to unschooling). However, there's not much point in joining if our way of running the group does not suit you. To avoid misunderstandings about how that is, we have spelled it out in our members' agreements. In that sense, you might say there is a "requirement" that all members abide by them.
Other Fees: Those who wish to take advantage of the Homeschooler's Playgroup group pass to the Children's Museum pay $10/family/year for that. Those who participate in events share in their cost on an event-by-event basis.

Description: We are a growing Christian Homeschool Support Group. Our goal is to support each other on our journey towards creating a homeschooling community that starts together, learns together, grows together, and stays together. Activities: Structured activities are usually geared for kids aged 5-10, but we are working on introducing activities for kids younger and older kids as our membership grows. Some of our annual events for kids of all ages are the HLC Monthly Project Club, Science Fair, Art Exhibit, and Monthly Community Awareness Themes.
Membership Fees/Requirements: Presently, there is no fixed membership fee to join. All of our activities are planned and paid for by our own families. In the past we have been involved in fundraising activities that help offset the cost of these activities. Description: We are a Christian group, but are willing to have any join us that would feel comfortable in our group. KWCHEA does not require that all members agree with our Statement Purpose or our Statement of Faith. We do require that members accept that this is the policy of our group, and that all our support group activities will be conducted in a manner that is in line with our policy. Description: about 50 families with children from preschool to high school age. We are a family oriented group and welcome all home schoolers, regardless of ethnic backgrounds, religion or style of home schooling.
Activities: drop-ins at Trinity Anglican Church, Port Credit from October to April. We sometimes hold meetings at the Kidsports on Dixie instead of the Church. Some families also meet at the Oakville YMCA for gym classes (requires YMCA membership). Individual parents frequently organize field trips and other activities open to all those who wish participate.

Membership Fees/Requirements: We charge $10 per year per family, and this goes towards administration costs and we use it to subsidize various events throughout the year. (If joining after April, then we ask for $5 for the 2nd half of the year.)

Description: We are an inclusive group open to ALL interested homeschooling families. Most activities are geared for the whole family, but a few are tailored for parents or a specific age group. New families are always welcome!
Activities: KHL offers a smorgasbord of activities to choose from throughout the year (fewer during the summer). Regular activities include; an outdoor ed/hiking club, Writing In Excellence, a Unit Study Co-Op, swimming, and our Field Trip Co-op adventures. Two afternoons a month we run a Family Learning Centre, with a number of enrichment classes/clubs run back to back at one location. We have chess, science, a preschool program, history, gym, geography and scrapbooking... to name but a few. In addition we host special events such as an open house, theme days, camping trips, picnics, rock climbing, special interest courses, guest speakers, workshops sports, and charity events. Moms and Dads enjoy our monthly parent nights and frequent coffee nights.
Membership Fees/Requirements: We don't have membership fees, but we do ask members to fill in an annual registration form and "contribute back" to the group on an annual basis. This helps spread out the workload, while ensuring activities are planned to meet the diverse interests of our membership. (There may be fees associated with participation in a particular activity, but we strive to keep costs minimal.)
Other: Families enjoy several discounts at area businesses with proof of membership. We also offer a free lending library, which is supported through our Scholastic Book Club orders, donations and fundraising. As additional support operate a Good Turn Network.

Description: This is a very loose group, I'm more of a contact person. I try and connect people to other families with similar ages and interests, also who live close together. I run a swim group and from time to time I organize gym time, theater etc. My children are 4 to 12 and our circle of contacts are within this age range. I'm not connected with any church and know of some church homeschool groups in the area. But if that's your focus try to contact them directly. We meet at people's houses mostly for social and play time.
